Thom Richardson is one of the original farmers market vendors in the Tucson region! Originally from North Carolina, Thom was “cursed” to be the family farmer back in 1965. This path took him to 10 acres in Boone, North Carolina, Logan, Utah, the Solomon Islands, and eventually to the University of Arizona where he got his masters in Agronomy and Plant Genetics. In 1996 he purchased 17 acres in Dragoon, which he and his family farmed and sold from until 2019. Thom retired from farming, but continues selling at the markets, bringing hard-to-get produce and selling dairy and eggs for Golden Rule Dairy. You’ll often find him alongside his son-in-law and one or more of his daughters, especially during strawberry season!
