Moving on UP! Friday Morning Farmers Market Moves from Trail Dust Town to Udall Park

Heirloom Farmers Markets, managers of the Trail Dust Town Farmers Market (Home of Pinnacle Peak), will continue serving up local produce, locally produced food, and vibrant community to Tucson’s east side at their newest farmers market in Udall Park (Friday mornings from  9 am – 1 pm in the winter and 8 am – 12 pm in the summer months). Beginning December 6, Heirloom Farmers Markets (HFM) will move their Friday morning farmers market from Trail Dust Town to the north entrance of Morris K. Udall Park (7202 N. Tanque Verde Rd.). Located in a beautiful outdoor space, clearly visible from Tanque Verde Rd., and at the heart of Tucson’s east side, Udall Park is an ideal place for locals to connect with their farmers and food producers each week.

Thanks to partnerships with Trail Dust Town, Ward 2 Councilperson Paul Cunningham, and the City of Tucson’s Parks & Recreation, HFM has run this Friday morning market for over nine years. Although HFM originally started its east side market at Udall Park in 2010, it has been held at Trail Dust Town – a charming courtyard with an ‘Old West’ feel – for the past four years. Now that the City of Tucson has completed the transfer of the BLM land on which Udall Park sits, state law permits the non-profit organization to return their Friday morning farmers market to its original location at Morris K. Udall Park.

“One of the reasons I wanted the city to get full use of the park from the BLM is so we could bring back the Farmer’s Market,” said Ward 2 Councilmember Paul Cunningham. “People in the area were always asking about it. It will be a great asset for Udall Park and the east side in general.”

Udall Park Farmers Market is one of five markets in the Heirloom Farmers Markets system that offers fresh local produce and goods to the community. With 18 vendors offering local and organic produce, farm-fresh eggs, Arizona grass-fed beef, local honey, freshly and locally roasted coffee, baked goods, salsa, tortillas, freshly roasted vegetables, pet products, soaps and more, this market brings the best of local food to Tucson’s east side. Located at the north entrance (near the baseball fields) of the expansive 173-acre Morris K. Udall Park, the Friday morning farmers market is visible from the road and can be easily accessed by both the SunTran and Udall Transit system. The Udall Park Farmers Market welcomes SNAP/EBT customers and encourages them to participate in Double Up Food Bucks AZ. Accessible and inclusive, this family-friendly market is the perfect place for the community to gather and enjoy live music, fresh food, and one of Tucson’s greatest outdoor parks.
